June nineteenth is the federal holiday Juneteenth! Today, we pause to celebrate the actual end to slavery in our country, approximately two and one half years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation, as well as the African American struggle for freedom and equality. For more information, read The Historical Legacy of Juneteenth provided by the National Museum of African American History & Culture.
