Last Saturday, May 20, dedicated EcoPel volunteers, along with very knowledgable, younger enthusiasts, met at Veterans Park to continue their work planting native species plants in our community. Grey Dogwood, Virginia Rose, Cranberry Highbush, and Ninebark were the plants that were sown and should produce a beautiful garden next year, similar to the one across the street that was planted three years ago by one of our local Girl Scout Troops under the guidance of Tai Montanarella and with the help of former Trustee Michelle DeLillo. The VoPM, along with its DPW Department, are proud to work collaboratively with Ms. Montanarella in her work producing gardens that use healthy yard practices, such as leaving leaves in place and reducing lawn mowing. Take a moment to stop by and look at the wonderful work that has been and continues to be done in Veterans Park and the surrounding area.
