We are so thrilled that New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) has diligently paved Boston Post Road (Route 1). This was achieved through extensive advocacy from our village officials, with the support of our state elected officials. The project is nearing completion and we are reaching out to share an update on the outstanding tasks.
The majority of the four lanes of roadway throughout the Village are complete. Monday and Tuesday night NYSDOT will be completing the final section that is near the City of New Rochelle border. They will also be re-visiting the intersection of Highland Avenue and Boston Post Road to remediate the patch Veolia provided. Subsequently, they will finalize the connections to side streets where they installed/replaced ADA ramps and conduct another cleaning of their catch basins.
Due to the temperature overnight, they will only be able to provide interim striping, and will need to come back in the spring to provide the permanent striping. When they come back, there will be minimal equipment and it will be conducted quickly. You may notice there appears to be a crease between lanes. This is a technique the NYSDOT uses to extend the life of the project. With time, the extra material will settle and the roadway will be seamless.
Thank you for everyone's patience and understanding throughout this process. NYSDOT has communicated to the Village that we have been a pleasure to visit and extends their appreciation to all of our residents!
