The safety of our residents is our top priority. We proudly provide high quality twenty-four hour emergency services, and we encourage residents to utilize these resources whenever they are in need. Our Police department has been made aware of mischievous behavior that will not be tolerated. We are reaching out to our community to ask for your partnership to ward off this conduct. The National Crime Prevention Council provides a productive outline to foster conversations between parents and their children regarding neighborhood safety. We emphasize setting limits on where your children can go in your neighborhood. This concept applies community-wide once your children are able to drive. Private property must be treated and respected as such, and viewed as "off-limits" by youths.
Taking a moment to refresh your personal safety skills is worth it. We encourage you to evaluate your daily routines and pin-point areas of potential improvements. This can be as simple as locking your door when you leave the house or making sure to remove your key/fab from your vehicle when you are done using it.
While we are always concerned about the speed at which vehicles travel through our community, back-to-school is always an important time to slow down! The walkability of our community is a special aspect of Pelham Manor. Make sure to be mindful of all modes of transportation that may be on the road; walkers, bicycles, vehicles, scooters, and more. To support the multi-modal transportation in our community, we have School Crossing Guards stationed at various posts on the pathways to schools. This grass-roots position knows our community well, and is there to help keep us all safe. If you, or someone you know, may be interested in being a School Crossing Guard, please take a moment to review our School Crossing Guard job posting (PDF).
