Our Department
The Pelham Manor Fire Department consists of The Chief of Department, 4 Duty Captains, 12 Firefighters working a 24-on/72-off schedule with 4 Squads. There are 4 personnel per shift led by a Fire Captain. The Department also has a volunteer company consisting of 6 members who respond when called upon to provide support services to the career staff at a fire scene.
All career personnel are trained in the latest methods of fire suppression, hazardous materials response, identification, public safety rescues including vehicle extrications, BLS/CPR, and other rescue situations. Personnel are also involved with prevention aspect of department operations through pre-fire planning of commercial and multi family occupancies and the quarterly in-service inspection program. Our department also conducts additional services including home safety checks and fire prevention education.
Our department operates two engines, tower ladder and a chiefs command vehicle. One engine is a reserve for additional personnel when needed.
Career Firefighters
The Westchester County Department of Human Resources administers the civil service examinations that is used to fill vacancies within the Pelham Manor Fire Department.
The latest examination was offered in February 2023. The exam is held every fours. For more information about the exam and hiring process, please visit Fire Examination
Volunteer Company
