House Numbers
Every residence or place of business is required to be numbered and to have its number attached to the front of the building. Building numbering is critically important in an emergency. It can save police, fire and ambulance personnel valuable time in responding to an emergency.
Fire Exits
The Pelham Manor Fire Department reminds you to check for the nearest fire exit when entering a public building. You should be aware of fire exits when you visit a hotel, shopping centers, stores or a theater.
Exit Drills in the Home
The Pelham Manor Fire Department encourages you to practice exit drills in your home. Establish predetermined means of exit from your home in case of fire. Then, practice your escape routes by using exit drills. To learn more about Exit Drills in the Home, please visit EDITH
Dialing 911
Due to close proximity to New York City, we have experienced minor delays in receiving emergency calls that are made from cell phones. We are asking all residents NOT to dial 911 from cell phones and ask that you program 914-738-0800 which is a direct emergency number to the fire department.
Location proximate to highways
The fire department is asking residents that live close to Interstate 95 and Hutchinson River Parkway to contact the fire department immediately if you should hear or see a car accident, car fire or other type of emergency. We ask this due to the delays in the 911 system when using cell phones because of the close proximity to New York City.
