Sanitary Sewer System Smoke Testing To Begin On Tuesday, January 3, 2017
SANITARY SEWER SYSTEM SMOKE TESTING TO BEGIN ON TUESDAY JANUARY 3, 2017
As part of its sanitary sewer system evaluation study, contractors acting on behalf of the Village will be conducting smoke testing throughout the village beginning on Tuesday January 3, 2017.
Non-toxic tracing smoke will be blown into manholes to fill the sewer pipes. Once the pipes have been pressurized, the contractors will look for wisps of smoke visible above ground. Visible smoke indicates a leak or other damage to the system and the location will be recorded for remedial action.
A notification will be left on your door a few days before testing is done in your area.
If you detect smoke in your home or building, notify the workers in the area or call the Police Department (738-1000) or Fire Department (738-8824) on the non-emergency numbers noted. DO NOT CALL 911. The smoke is not harmful and if you open windows it will dissipate.
