Pelham Manor has a long and rich history dating from before the first Dutch settlers arrived. The area was home to the Siwanoy Indians who sold approximately 9,200 acres which includes what is now Pelham, New Rochelle and part of the Bronx to William Pell in 1654. In Colonial times, the Battle of Pelham, fought on October 18th, 1776 was a turning point in the War of Independence. More Info..
